Pope Leo XIV in Turkey for Thanksgiving
Week in Review
The Council of Nicaea handled the great Christological controversy of Arianism in the year 325. In honor of the 1700th anniversary, Pope Leo XIV visited the country as a sort of pilgrimage to one of the crucial places in the history of Christianity. Some of the fathers in my community noticed the irony that the first American Pope was visiting a country called “Turkey” for Thanksgiving. In the news:
Pope Leo XIV is in Turkey, where he met with the Christian minority, representing about 0.05% of the majority Muslim population. His Prayer Meeting with them reflected on the “new Arianism” present in the world today.

What I’m reading: Scott Hahn’s books normally fascinate me, and Catholics in Exile is no exception. I would definitely recommend this book which follows salvation history, especially as represented by Hebrews 11. He reflects on how being in exile is not always a bad thing for the Church.
