Mary, Mediatrix of All Grace?
Last week, I got kind of nervous when I heard that there were discussions “in the Vatican” about possible Marian titles of “Mary, Mediatrix of All Grace” and “Co-redemptrix.” I felt transported back to 1995 when I remember a lot of chatter. A lot of the teaching that goes into the titles is fine, but the titles themselves are more proper for private devotion and less so for official publications. The Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith explains in the 3500-word document responding to the queries of the faithful.
In the news:
Catholic Twittersphere and beyond is losing its mind about the document that came out from the Dicastery of the Doctrine of the Faith. I recommend reading Fr. Fessio’s quick take on it.
What I have been reading: Tuesday, we had our monthly retreat and I went a little further into the Apostolic Letter “Drawing New Maps of Hope”. I think it is a worthwhile read, to be sure.
Best Podcast of the Week: I love comedy and I like Pints with Aquinas so it makes sense to listen to Matt Fradd interview John Crist.
My thoughts on the Sunday Gospel: If you’re not building, you’re breaking. As we celebrate the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica, we can reflect about how we build up the Church with our words and actions.

Thanks for reading. I am praying for you.
