Looking Forward to Guadalupe
Week in Review
This weekend, I will be heading to Mexico for a pilgrimage with a group from St. Joseph’s Parish in Raleigh. I am looking forward especially to visiting the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
This past week, I have been working on getting things ready for Spring Break Missions with Duke students, as well as preparing the Rite of Acceptance and Welcoming this Sunday for the young men and women being baptized or coming into the Church at the Easter Vigil.
In the news:
Pope Leo XIV finished his first Apostolic Journey outside Italy. On the plane, he shared some reflections on one of his favorite books: The Practice of the Presence of God, by Brother Lawrence.
My thoughts on the Sunday Gospel: Advent begins this Sunday. I think this Advent is a great time to slow down and I share some of my thoughts in this post, Beyond the Flashy to the Foundational.
What I’m reading: I finished Catholics in Exile and enjoyed it tremendously. It gave me a lot to reflect about how we are always working on our way towards Heaven.
Youtube Video of the Week: Bishop Barron sat down with Cardinal Muller and their conversation is fascinating. They provide a good overview of theology over the last 60 years and of how the world responds to God’s message of salvation.
Podcast of the Week: Matt Fradd interviewed Sister Miriam James on Pints with Aquinas. I definitely recommend listening to their fascinating conversation on healing and growing in love for God.
