Coach K
Week in Review
The Duke Catholic Center was able to co-sponsor a Few Lecture with the legendary Coach K. With a couple of students, I was able to attend a luncheon with him. It was great to meet one of the legendary basketball coaches of all time.
In the news:
Pope Leo XIV has released his first Apostolic Exhortation, Dilexi te. In continuity with Pope Francis’ last Apostolic Exhortation, Dilexit nos, Pope Leo reflects on the way that we are called to serve the poor. I wrote a few reflections in Pope Leo on the Love for the Poor.
Best YouTube Video of the Week: Maybe not too many people are still following the news story on the “Vatican Bank” but there are developments. This video helps explain in a nutshell some reforms implemented by Pope Leo XIV.
Best Podcast of the Week: I have been very interested in the Civil War and History Unplugged does a great job explaining the Background. I finished the series this week. It is well worth a listen.
My thoughts on the Sunday Gospel: Gratitude Turns Chaos Into Clarity. Here is a post that outlines my Sunday homily and below, you can find the video.
What I am reading: Battle Cry of Freedom, by James McPherson. It is an excellent read on the Civil War. I am about a quarter of the way through. It is a fascinating read.
Formed.org Highlight: As we just celebrated the Memorial and are preparing for his “Doctorate” on November 1, I recommend focusing on St. John Henry Newman.
