I think for college students in particular it is easy to do things and go with the flow of what you are “supposed to do,” rather than making these decisions intentionally. I remember reading Peter Kreeft talk about how St. Thomas Aquinas says that the only reason to do anything if it is either leisurely, virtuous, or practically necessary - implying that we can cut out everything else.
